How To Make Cheese Bread

Cheese Monkey Bread made from scratch. It’s best served right after you take it out of the oven, the dough pieces can be easily pulled out and dipped into your favorite dipping sauce.

How To Make Garlic Cheese Monkey Bread

Ingredient

Make 40 small servings

Bread flour
3 1/2 cups (440g) all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon (2g) garlic powder
1/2 cup (50g) Cheddar cheese, grated
1 teaspoon (5g) salt
25g fresh yeast (2 1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast or 2 teaspoons instant brewer’s yeast)
2 tablespoons (30g) sugar
1/4 cup (60ml) milk, warm
3/4 cup (180ml) water, warm
1 egg, beaten
3 tablespoons (45g) softened butter

Cheese Coating
1/2 cup (110g) unsalted butter, melted
4 cloves of minced garlic
Freshly ground pepper
2 tablespoons chives, chopped
2 tablespoons parsley, chopped
1/2 cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup (100g) grated Cheddar cheese

Serve
Your favorite dipping sauce, to serve

1. Grease a 9 inch (23cm) flour pan.

2. Prepare the bread dough. In a large bowl mix flour with salt, garlic powder and cheese.

3. In a small bowl, add the fresh fermentable sugar and stir until it becomes liquid. Add milk and stir until dissolved.

4. Add the dissolved yeast, water, beaten egg and butter to the flour mixture. Stir and knead until dough is smooth and pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Cover with cling film and let the dough rest for about 10 minutes.

5. On a dough surface, divide the dough into 4 portions. Divide each piece into 10 smaller pieces and roll each into a ball.

6. In a medium bowl, mix melted butter with minced garlic and freshly ground black pepper.

7. In another bowl, mix cheddar and parmesan cheese with parsley and chives.

8. Dip each ball of dough into the butter mixture and then cover with the cheese mixture.

9. Place the dough balls in the prepared batch pan.

10. Cover the pan with cling film and let the dough rise for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

11. Meanwhile preheat oven to 350F (180C).

12. Bake for 25-30 minutes until top is dark golden brown.

13. Remove from oven and let cool on pan for 5-10 minutes.

14. Remove the bread from the pan and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
