I am delighted to be able to share with you this delicious German Apple Streusel – Apfelkuchen mit Streusel. I have tried many apple pie recipes and I can assure you, this is one of the best apple pie I have ever made. It is so pleasant, a perfect dessert for cozy autumn days.

1/4 cup + 3 tablespoons (95g) butter, room temperature
1/3 cup (70g) sugar
1 teaspoon (5g) vanilla extract
1 medium egg
1 cup (190g) all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon (4g) baking powder
1/4 teaspoon (1g) salt

apple sauce
4-5 apples (about 25 oz -700g)
1 tablespoon (15ml) lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon (2g) cinnamon

Streusel Almond Topping
2/3 cup (80g) all-purpose flour
1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon (1g) salt
1/2 teaspoon (2g) ground cinnamon
1/4 cup (56g) butter, room temperature
1/3 cup (30g) almonds
