This is the simplest recipe you can make for homemade chocolate chip cookies. You can create many variations using coffee, nuts, fruit, lavender, orange or lemon zest, and the list goes on.

Ingredient:
Makes about 9-12 servings
14 oz (400 g) sweetened condensed milk
10 oz (300 g) bitter chocolate (minimum 55% cocoa)
a little salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup toasted walnuts, chopped, optional
orange or lemon peel, optional
dried fruit, optional
Direction
1. Line an 8X8 inch baking pan with foil. Break or chop the chocolate into small pieces.
2. Place the chocolate and condensed milk in a double-sided saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally. Once melted, add the vanilla extract, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt and stir to combine. Add orange or lemon zest and other fruits if using.
3. Remove from heat and transfer to prepared baking pan. Press the toasted nuts on top.
4. Chill in refrigerator for about 1 hour until set, and cut into squares.
