For caramel walnuts:

Instruct:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan (8 or 9 inches) or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

In a separate large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and smooth.

Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.

Gradually add the pureed chestnuts to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until well combined.

Add the dry ingredients and milk to the wet ingredients one at a time, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Be careful not to over mix.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Baking times may vary depending on your oven, so pay attention to baking times.

After baking, take the cake out of the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes. Then, transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.

While the cake cools, you can prepare the frosting (if desired). In a mixing bowl, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and pureed chestnuts, mixing well after each addition. If the frosting is too thick, add more milk or cream, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.

When the cake is completely cool, spread frosting on top of the cake. You can also garnish with crushed or chopped chestnuts for added texture and flavor.

Slice and serve your delicious chestnut cake!
