How to Make Twisted Cinnamon Rolls – The Most Addictive Cinnamon Rolls Ever

Treat yourself to a delicious treat with these waffle twists. Picture soft, warm rolls, each filled with fragrant cinnamon and a hint of delicious butter. They are twisted into cute little knots and baked in a muffin tin, adding elegance and charm.

How to Make Twisted Cinnamon Rolls


4 cups (500g) all-purpose flour
2 ¼ teaspoons (7g) active dry yeast (or 25 g fresh yeast)
1 cup (240 ml) warm milk
2 tablespoons (30g) sugar
1 teaspoon (5g) vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon (3g) salt
2 medium eggs
4 tablespoons (56g) unsalted butter, melted
cinnamon filling
5 tablespoons (70g) butter, at room temperature
2 tablespoons (13g) ground cinnamon

1/2 cup (100g) sugar
to brush teeth
1 small egg, beaten


Prepare the dough.
In a medium bowl, add yeast, 1 teaspoon (5g) sugar, and 1/4 cup warm milk. Let stand for 5-10 minutes to activate the yeast.

In a large bowl mix together flour, sugar and salt. Add remaining milk, active yeast, egg vanilla extract, and melted butter. Begin kneading until smooth and slightly pulling away from the sides of the bowl. You can knead the dough by hand or use a hand mixer or stand mixer.
Transfer the dough to an oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap.
Let the dough rest for about 1 hour at room temperature (warm space) until it doubles in size.
Prepare cinnamon butter mixture.
In a small bowl combine butter with cinnamon and sugar.
How to make twisted rolls
On a floured surface, roll the dough into a rectangle about 15×20 inches (40x50cm).

Spread the cinnamon butter mixture over 2/3 of the rectangle.
Fold the dough like a letter into thirds, starting at the unbuttered edge of the rectangle.
Cut the dough into 12 equal parts.
Cut each piece in half lengthwise, leaving one edge uncut. Twist two pieces.
Roll out dough and transfer to greased 12-cup muffin pan.
Repeat with remaining dough.
Cover with a kitchen towel and let them rise for 20-30 minutes.

Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
Brush the rolls with beaten egg.
Place the rolls in the oven and bake for about 18-20 minutes until golden brown. Don’t bake too long.
