How to Make Homemade Flour Tortillas

Ingredient

▢3 cups all-purpose flour
▢2 teaspoons baking powder
▢1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
▢5 tablespoons salted butter, at room temperature (or coconut oil)
▢1 cup of hot water

Instruct

1. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add butter, then pour in hot water. Stir until a shaggy dough begins to form.
2. Pour the dough onto a floured counter. Use your hands to knead the dough for 1-2 minutes until it forms a smooth ball. Cover the bowl with a damp towel and let it sit for 10 minutes.
3. Cut the dough into 12-14 equal pieces, then roll each piece into a ball (it doesn’t have to be perfect). Use a rolling pin or tortilla press to roll the dough into an 8-inch circle.
4. Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Add a little olive oil, then the tortillas. Cook for 30-60 seconds until small bubbles appear on the surface. Flip and cook for another 30 seconds or until the underside is slightly golden. Place on a plate and cover with a towel. Repeat with remaining dough.
5. Eat hot (so delicious!) or save for later. Store tortillas in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
